Thank You Soldiers and Veterans

August 6, 2008

Thank you to all of you men and women who have served and serve in our military at home and abroad. We acknowledge your tremendous sacrifice to the cause of freedom and national security. We respect you and honor you. You are some of the agents appointed by God according to Romans 13:1-2. You are called by Him to do what you do. You fight for us in times of war, provide security for us at home and yes, even give your life for the freedom of others in foreign lands.

If you ever wonder if that is our responsibility, the answer is yes. Although, we do have a responsibility first to our own we have a responsibility to all of humanity. With all of the great blessings that we have we also have a great responsibility. The Bible tells us, “To whom much is given, much is required”. We appreciate all of the sacrifices you make. You are willing to work hard and train. You have been willing to leave your families to serve. Thank you to your families who sacrifice with you. We honor your spouses and children who are left behind to take care of families.

Some who may have had to put their personal dreams and goals on hold. Thank You. Thank you for being willing to give your life for us. We acknowledge the fallen and the wounded. We are reminded of another who gave His life for all of us. He is Jesus Christ, our Savior and the Soldier of the Cross. He paid the ultimate price for you and me to go free. Free from the bondage of the oppressor and enemy of our souls. We no longer have to live in fear of the terrorism of that evil tyrant, the devil.

Thank you soldiers and veterans for fighting for our peace. It is almost a contradiction of terms. The fact is there is no peace without war. Peace doesn’t just happen. It has to be fought for and maintained in order to be secured. Every free nation or group of people has had to fight for it. King David who was a man after God’s own heart was also known as a man of war. He was in fact a valiant warrior himself. He fought from his youth to his old age. War was his legacy. But because of this he secured many years of peace for his nation that his son, Solomon would enjoy as king and heir to his throne. King David’s sacrifices were for the generations to come.

Thank you soldiers and veterans. It is an amazingly unselfish thing to fight for something that may not be completely realized in your lifetime. You may be agents of war but you are primarily agents of peace and freedom. You are truly our FREEDOM FIGHTERS! We can’t thank you enough. We love you and our prayers are with you and your families. We honor you.

Thank you again.
